The Padepokan Seni Mangun Dharma is a privately run organization without any government sponsorship. We survive through the good will of our sponsors and from the services we provide. With the recent crises that have rocked Indonesia and the world, from the economic crisis that started in 1997, to the WTC disaster, to the terrorism in Bali, the results have been disastrous to the arts in all of Indonesia and to us here in Java.

Running an art-center is cost-intensive, as none of our performers are economically stable at the best of times. We welcome any sort of assistance; the better for us to provide assistance to the members of the art center, with performances sponsored privately for the public, to financial assistance for school or even day-to-day life, and by enabling us to maintain our facilities and our teaching staff.

We have a number of current projects we specifically need your help for in order to keep them alive:

• Monthly wayang kulit and wayang topeng at the Mangun Dharma Art Center
• Rebuilding the termite-riddled Padepokan pendopo where the gamelan is housed
• The childrens group and performance activities
• On-going publications of books and cassettes/CDs on East Javanese arts
